Searching for Ski Information

The following information is useful if you are planning to organise a ski holiday yourself, rather than book a package tour. It is possible to get detailed road maps for airport transfers if you are hiring a car at the airport and driving to the ski resort.

Did you know that Google have over 70% of the traffic on the web? I used to use Alta Vista in 1995, when the internet was just getting started. I remember that the only websites I could find were in the USA! I remember thinking, 'what use is the internet for people in the UK?' Since then google have proved to be the best of all search engines, google have a system that allows the information that you are searching for to be located much more accurately. So I now always google it! There are now thousands of websites in the UK, the problem is now finding a website with good, relevant information on it, in amongst all the spam and poor content websites.

Google also have many new features, such as google maps, google images, google video, google news, google earth, google shopping, google mail. I think that the best thing I have found recently is google maps. When we went to Bulgaria and toured into Greece this year (2009), we wanted to have a look at the road network and I was searching for pictures and details of the places and beaches that we wanted to visit. On google maps you can search anywhere in the world (nearly). I felt as though I was actually there! I could view the road network, zoom in and out and click on one of 100's of photos next to the road map, so that I could see what each area was like! There are even videos on the maps!

You can use the google maps search box and it will take you there. Then click the drop down box (marked more) next to the map and select images/photos. On google maps, you can also print out, select satellite or terrain views! We have used this function and it has proven very useful and it is free. Saves having to buy road maps! You can now also see an image of your house and street!
