We found it difficult to find any way to contact the Bulgarian ski hire companies in Bulgaria. The big tour operators such as Balkan Holidays have inclusive packages. But these do not always give the best value. You can book an apartment in the right location, actually next to the ski slope (this is no longer possible in the other resorts such as France

Ski hire with ‘Mirone Ski Hire’ this is a cabin situated less than 20m from the Studenetz Ski Lift for ease of access.
Lift Passes
Lift passes are readily available at the kiosks at the Studenetz ski area and at Ski lift / Ski Centre 1 at the bottom of the ski slope. We usually adopt a pay as you go approach, as we do not want to ski every day.
However, you do get a small discount if you book the whole week (6/7 days depending on flight times), there are only queues for passes at peak times e.g. Half Term or Christmas, if you buy them daily:
Adult full day lift pass 9-00 am to 4-3 = 39 lev (£20.00)
Adult half day lift pass 12-30 pm to 4-30pm = 34 lev (£13.60)
Child up to 14 yrs ski pass full day = 28 lev (£11.20)
Child half day lift pass = 31 lev (£ 8.40)
If you buy a 6 day lift pass you will save a total of 18 lev (£7.20) per adult
If you buy a 6 day lift pass you will save a total of 16 lev (6.40) per child
....or Italy unless you are willing to pay the Kings Ransom).
Also, unlike the ski resorts in western Europe, in Pamporovo you can just walk into a hire shop and walk out with your ski's,boots and poles! This is a real culture shock for us. It is the same with the ski passes, you can buy them on a pay as you go basis. This way, if you fancy staying in bed some mornings, after a good night out with the apres ski party goers, you can without wasting money. The only exception to this is if you go at New Year or at Half Term when it is best to book, just in case. Ski instructors can also be booked in resort for next day lessons or to take out a family party at incredibly low prices! We just asked when we hired our gear in resort and for £25 we were taken out for a private lesson. This was good as we learned really fast with personal attention.
Having said the above, I think that most people from busy western European locations would want to book up anyway, to be sure, fearing they would be left without equipment. We have found some small local ski hire companies that are well positioned for the Studenets ski lift in Pamporovo and these are shown below with pictures. They are all good genuine family people from pamporovo. You will see there children helping in the ski huts and grandparents cooking the food or making hot drinks for customers. We were given presents of a local herb that is used to make an aromatic brew that relaxes you and gives you a feeling of well being.

Hristo is an experienced ski instructor who can arrange ski hire and book ski lessons for groups or individuals. Hristo lives in the local town of Smolyan and is a family man. He has been teaching for over 5 years in Bulgarian and Scottish ski schools and is internationally qualified to BASI standards (British Association of Snow sport Instructors).

2010 Prices:
The prices below are some of the best value in Europe, equipment is generally good quality and is available from several ski huts at the modern Studenets ski lift area. This is also the area where husky dog sleigh rides can be taken.
